Olhe para onde você vaiLook where you go

Where you look is where you go. Like on a bike or in a car. On the water you look where you want to go and feel the kite through the bar. You learn that on the sand, first.

Parte 1Part 1

Para onde você olha, você vaiWhere you look is where you go

Compare.Seen from above, with the wind coming from the top. The head turns first; the shoulders, hips and board follow. Compare.

Parte 2Part 2

Sinta o kite pela barraFeel the kite through the bar

On the sand, seen from behind. First with your eyes on the kite. Then without looking: the orange arrow is what you feel in the harness, and it tells you where the kite is.

Parte 3Part 3

Os 6 pontosThe 6 points

1Olhe para onde quer irLook where you want to goEscolha um ponto lá na frente e olhe para ele. A prancha vai atrás do olhar.Pick a point far ahead and look at it. The board follows your eyes.
O corpo segue a cabeça.Shoulders and hips turned forward, not toward the kite. The body follows the head.
3Sinta o puxãoFeel the pullPuxão leve: o kite está alto, perto do 12. Light pull: the kite is high, near 12. Strong pull from the side: it is lower, toward the edge.
Small, smooth moves. Pull one side gently, like bike handlebars.
A parked kite doesn't stay parked by itself: gravity pulls it down. A constant touch toward 12 holds it there.
Nor below 2:30 on the other side. Near the water the wind is weak and messy: the kite stops responding and falls.
You can glance at the kite for a second, to check where it is. Then your eyes go back ahead.
A quick glance between runs, just to know where it is.
Parte 4Part 4

Looking at the kite, you go to the kite and never sideways. You never get back to the board.
No waterstartIn the waterstartOlhe para onde quer ir e a prancha aponta para lá. Olhando para o kite, ela aponta para o kite.Look where you want to go and the board points there. Looking at the kite, it points at the kite.
Board turned toward the kite: the lines go slack, the kite loses power and falls in the water.
Looking ahead, you see people, waves and other kites in time.
Parte 5Part 5

Treino na areia: pilotar sem olharPractice on the sand: flying blind

It is the goal of the first lesson. Always with the instructor next to you, a small kite and light wind.

  1. De olho no kiteEyes on the kiteKite no 12. Leve para 10h30, segure, volte para o 12. Depois para 1h30. Movimentos pequenos.Kite at 12. Take it to 10:30, hold it, bring it back to 12. Then to 1:30. Small moves.
Do it again and pay attention to the harness: at 12 it is light, at 10:30 it is stronger and comes from the side.
Look at the sea or at the instructor. He calls a position (12, 10:30, 1:30) and you take the kite there only by feel.
A quick glance to check, then eyes ahead again. When you get it right every time, you are ready for the water.
Teste rápidoQuick check
